How can I place an order using PayPal or a wire transfer? You may select the payment method Paypal during the ordering process. Please note that Paypal or wire transfer payments are available for annual contracts (12 months pre-payments) only. 4. How often will Server01 bill me Depending on your selection while signing up, Server01 bills you monthly or yearly on the date your account was opened. Credit card payments are processed automatically once per day. Server01 does not send out paper invoices. We do, however, send out PDF invoices by E-Mail, and you may request past invoices anytime. In addition you may also download your invoices in the Server01 FantasticPanel. 6. Do you have long term contracts? No. We do not require you to sign up for years at a time. Should you be unhappy with our services for any reason, you can cancel your contract, and we will refund all overpaid fees. But please call or write us first: we are dedicated to the best customer service. There are absolutely no hidden fees. We simply offer the most advanced dedicated hosting for the most competitive rates. There are additional services that we do offer on a fee basis, but they are optional and available on request only.
No. You rent the server, plus the space, power, bandwidth and Internet connectivity in our data center. Dedicated Servers are a cost-effective and convenient alternative to colocation (where you buy a server and rent space in a data center, this is more expensive because there is usually a minimum of 1/4 rack space) or building your own data center facility, which would cost millions of dollars to achieve the reliability and network connectivity Server01 delivers. 2. How long does it take for my server to get set up? We set up your server instantly once we have confirmed your order by calling the phone number you have provided during signup. Please make sure that we can reach you at that number, otherwise we may not be able to process your order. 3. Do you offer custom server configurations? We keep costs down by selling only standardized server configurations and, therefore, don't offer many customization options to server hardware. But with servers being priced so low, an upgrade to a larger Server01 standard server is probably less expensive than a simple RAM upgrade from any other provider. So if you need more power, just upgrade to a more powerful server. Please don't hesitate to consult with our Sales Team for an individual upgrade offer. 4. Can I upgrade to another server later? Server01 customers are always able to upgrade to a more powerful server at a later date. Those on a monthly plan simply pay the new monthly fee. Those on annual plans can simply commit to an additional year on the new server, with a credit for the unused portion of their existing server. There is a no additional upgrade or setup fee. Server01 typically gives a 7-day overlap for you to transfer your data from one server to another. Please contact your sales representative for complete details. 5. Do you support international domain names and clients? Sure we do. As a global company, we are more than happy to serve international customers. All of our servers and software can handle international domains, and our support staff helps you point your international domain to your server. 6. Do you allow adult content? Server01 does allow adult content, provided that it does not violate any of our Terms and Policies or any laws of the United States. Server01 does allow IRC, provided that it does not violate any of our Terms and Policies. Please note that we do not issue additional IP addresses for IRC vhosts. Per our Terms and Policies, Server01 customers are responsible for any network problems, attacks, exchange of hacking information or copyrighted software or other issues that might take place on their servers. 8. How do I order additional servers? If you have already an account for a dedicated server with us, and you wish to order an additional server, please follow the signup pages and enter your FantasticPanel login data and add the desired product to your account. If you wish to have the server on a separate account, please signup as a new customer and inform our Sales Team. 9. May I contact you in any other language besides English? Do you provide a guarantee or SLA? Server01 strives to maintain a 99.99% network uptime service level. As normal in the dedicated hosting business, we can only guarantee our overall network and not each individual server. Since all of our customers have full root access, the uptime of individual servers is out of our control. We will, of course, do everything in our power to keep your server online. This uptime percentage is a monthly figure, and does not include any scheduled hardware/software upgrades, or „Acts of God”. Our definition of „Act of God” includes; fire, flood, tornado, earthquake, telco fiber issues (e.g. Level3T cutting a fiber line somewhere), as well as network floods, hacks, and attacks. 11. Too good to be true. How can Server01 sell for such low prices? It's all real. We work hard to continue providing you the best services for the best prices. 1. Will I get Super User/Root access? Yes, root access is what we sell. We wouldn’t sell anything less (and you shouldn’t have to settle for anything less). You can put as many domains, customers and applications on your server as you want. Of course, you’ll want to make sure you know what you are doing and we all need to be good Netizens as per our Terms and Policies. 2. How are you connected to the Internet? Your server is located in a world-class data center with unparalleled peering and transit connections on redundant fiber loops, with no single point of failure, all operating at less than 30% of capacity. 3. Do you have battery backups and generators? Our data center is fully backed up by batteries and diesel generators. No, we don't restrict bandwidth but we do measure your monthly transfer in GB. Every Server01 package includes a very generous allocation of bandwidth per month, and all of our servers have 100Mbps ethernet connections. All bandwidth usage over the allocated amount for your server package is automatically charged at the rate of $0.39 per GB. Optional dedicated bandwidth packages (Mbps circuits) are available for intensive bandwidth usage. 5. How many IP addresses do I get? Each server comes with one IP included, you can order up to seven additional IPs through your FantasticPanel for a US$1.00 monthly fee per address. There is no setup fee for additional IPs. Please use name-based hosting for all of your Websites instead of individual IP addresses because there is no difference in performance and this economizes IPs. In you require more than eight IP adresses you must justify per ARIN guidelines. Legitimate justification of IP addresses include SSL certificates, running nameservers, and other specialized applications that require IP addresses. Unacceptable IP justifications include Reverse DNS mappings for IRC vhosts and IP-based Web hosting. 6. What types of applications can I run on my server? You can run any type of applications on your server that you wish, provided that it does not violate any of our Terms and Policies. Many of our customers are hosting Websites, databases, chat and game servers, etc. 7. Will my server have a Web-based control panel? All servers may have your choice of Plesk or cPanel control panel software. Both are Web-based programs that allow for point-and-click administration to add domains, mail, FTP, DNS and perform other administration, all through a Web-based interface. 8. Do you install a full version of control panel software? Yes, we do install a full version of the latest control panel software. We install Plesk (10 domains) for Free. Domain license options like 30, 100 and unlimited are also available. cPanel may be installed upon request, please contact our Sales Team. 9. Which control panel would you suggest? Server01 is always working hard to provide to our customers the best management systems available for the moment. Currently you can get a Free Plesk (10 Domains). Additional information can be found here. 10. What is your policy on bandwidth? We do not cap or restrict your bandwidth. Your traffic may burst to as much as the server requires. Each server comes with minimum 500GB of data transfer per month. If you need more, simply contact our Sales Team for an individual offer or upgrade to a more powerfull server. 11. How is bandwidth measured? Bandwidth is measured at three points in our network for the highest accuracy and redundancy. We use our patented TrafficProbe system to analyze the complete traffic flow in our data center and provide you the most accurate billing in the industry. In addition, we monitor all switch ports for bandwidth usage. 12. What software is included with the servers? The servers come with a standard Linux or Windows installation optimized by our system engineers for the best speed and stability. Some of the control panel software only supports certain versions of Linux or Windows at this time. Each server will include Apache Sendmail, Bind, Perl, PHP and MySql. (Plesk uses Q-mail instead of Sendmail.) You will have root control with full Telnet and FTP access. SSH and SSL come enabled on the control with full access. SSH (RDP on Windows) and SSL come enabled on the servers as well. All software depends upon which server you purchase. 13. What are the common software applications available with your servers? What are they for? Linux: 14. Will Server01 install SSL (Secure Socket Layer) on my server? SSL comes enabled by default on all of our servers. You must provide the certificate; SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is required for secure transactions over the Web. You may secure a single domain using one certificate (e.g. yoursecuredomain.com) and then create directories to provide individual secure pages for your customers (e.g. yoursecuredomain.com/user1). 15. Are other operating systems available? For a complete list of available operating system please take a look here. Other Linux based OS are always possible to install via the FantasticRecovery option. Our PowverRecovery system lets you restore your server settings, backups, and compile and install new software, including an Operating System. You have full flexibility to install any software you choose, and it's so easy you can do it yourself. Without the need for tech support. 1. Does Server01 provide support? Yes! We provide FREE 24/7 support with our Ticket system. We also have plenty of information and resources available online. Please note that you are expected to maintain your server and any software you wish to run on your server. Any hardware or network issues will be proactively attended to as well. 2. What if the hardware fails? Server01 stocks a high number of replacement parts. In case of hardware failure we will either replace the complete server or exchange the broken parts. This all takes place within a matter of a few hours - not days - as with many other providers. We recommend you back up your critical data over the Internet to another machine. Your use of the service is at your sole risk. Server01 is not responsible for files and data residing on your account. You agree to take full responsibility for files and data transferred and to maintain all appropriate backup of files and data stored on Server01 servers. 4. What if I need to re-boot my machine? No problem. With our award-winning PremiumReboot feature, you can remotely soft and hard reboot your server at any time. Just submit the reboot request in your online customer interface and your server will be rebooted immediately. 5. What if my server gets hacked or attacked? Since you have full root access to your server, server security is your responsibility. We cannot be held liable in any way if your server gets hacked. Hackers usually go after a server just to say, „they did”, or to use the server to bounce off of to hack something more important. Rarely are any users' files on the server damaged, erased, or modified. For this reason, once a hacker is detected, a server can usually be cleaned up and the hacker locked back out within a matter of hours. The most economical way to clean your server would be to back up all important data and reinstall your server using the FantasticRestore feature. 6. Do you offer server restore?
